Location does not work

If you do not see your position on the map, or the app says "Location is off for this app", the app has no access to your iPhone's location. Symptoms - there is no blue dot on the map; - tapping the arrow button on the map shows "Location is off for this app"; - a new catch says "Location unavailable - tap to set"; - a new spot says "Current location unavailable - starting from the map centre"; - the Forecast tab says "Choose a forecast location" instead of showing the forecast for where you are. Solution Option 1: allow location for the app 1. On the map, tap the arrow button in the bottom right corner. 2. In the message "Location is off for this app", tap Open Settings. 3. Tap Location and choose While Using the App. 4. Go back to the app. If the app has never asked before, tapping the arrow button shows the iOS question instead — choose Allow While Using App. Option 2: turn on Location Services If the app is allowed but there is still no blue dot, open the iOS Settings app → Privacy & Security → Location Services and make sure it is on. Option 3: wait for a position Indoors, or right after the phone was switched on, finding a position can take a while. Go outside, wait a moment and tap the arrow button again. You can use the app without location Location is optional: - a catch — tap the Location card and choose a saved spot or drag the map: Set the place and time of a catch - a spot — drag the map under the pin, or touch and hold the map at the right point: Save a fishing spot - the forecast — choose any place by hand: Choose the place for the forecast Good to know - The app uses your location only while you are using it, never in the background. - "Allow Once" works until you leave the app; iOS asks again the next time. - The map does not follow you as you move. The forecast shows no data or looks outdated

If part of the forecast is empty or old, the message on the screen tells you why. No part of the day scores high enough to be called a fishing window — for example on a windy day. Look at the Bite score bars to find the better hours, or check another day. The forecast is for the wrong place The forecast does not follow you: it stays on the place you chose last. Tap the button in the top right corner of the Forecast tab and choose the place again: Choose the place for the forecast The times look wrong All times in the forecast are the local time of the place of the forecast, not of your phone. They differ when you look at a place in another time zone. "Choose a forecast location" The app has no place for the forecast yet. Tap Choose location. To get the forecast for where you are, the app needs access to your location: Location does not work Still having issues? The map is blank or a place has no name

The map is blank or grey Symptom: the map shows no detail, and the app says "Map details need a connection. Your saved spots and GPS still work." Cause: the background map comes from Apple Maps and needs a connection. What to do: connect to the internet. Meanwhile your pins and your position are still drawn, and you can save spots and log catches as usual. Maps cannot be downloaded in advance. Use the app without a signal A place is called "Dropped pin", or shows coordinates Cause: the name of the water or the place could not be looked up — usually because the phone is offline. Names you have seen before stay available. Where the app has no name for a water, it shows the name from Apple Maps, and where there is none, the coordinates. Named waters are available for New Zealand, Australia and the United States. I cannot find my catch on the map - A catch that belongs to a saved spot has no pin of its own. Open the spot: its catches are under Your catches. The number on the spot's pin is the number of catches there. - Where pins are close together they shrink to small dots. Zoom in. - Or open Profile → Catches and tap the catch — the map moves to it. Find your catches and spots Nothing happens when I tap the map A tap opens a pin only. To mark an empty point, touch and hold it: Drop a pin on any point The search finds nothing Searching for places needs a connection; your own spots can always be found. Search for a place or a saved spot Weather warnings are not shown Warnings exist for the United States only, and the map draws only the most urgent ones. Catch conditions do not appear

The tide, wind, pressure, moon and score of a catch are worked out on our servers after the catch is synchronised. That needs a connection. "Conditions will fill in shortly" / "Loading score..." Cause: the catch has not been processed yet. This is normal right after saving, and for as long as the phone is offline. What to do: 1. Make sure the phone is online. 2. Keep the app open for a minute, or close and open it again. The app synchronises only while it is open. 3. Open the catch again. Conditions usually arrive within moments once the phone is online. "Not available" in a tile That reading does not exist for the place. The usual case is Tide on a lake or a river. "Not recorded" in a tile That reading could not be obtained for the time of the catch — for example the wind and pressure of a catch from long ago. Open the catch, tap ⋯ → Edit and check Location and When: Set the place and time of a catch Still having issues? If a catch still says "Conditions will fill in shortly" after the app has been open and online for several minutes, contact support. Tell us the date and time of the catch and the version of the app (Profile → gear → About). Do not delete the app to fix this — you would lose your records: Reinstalling the app or changing phones

The app says "Update required"

If you see a strip at the top of the app that says "Update required", the version on your phone is too old to work with our servers. Symptoms - a strip at the top of every screen: "Update required — This version can't sync any more. Your spots and catches are safe on this phone." - the forecast, the search and the weather warnings stop updating; - new catches stay on "Conditions will fill in shortly". Solution 1. Tap Open App Store in the strip. 2. Tap Update. 3. Open the app again. Everything you logged meanwhile is synchronised after the update. If the button does not open the App Store, open it yourself: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/fishing-app-points-forecast/id6811529393 While the strip is shown You can still open your catches and spots, log new catches and save new spots. They are kept on your phone and sent after the update. Important Update the app — do not delete and reinstall it. Deleting the app removes your records from the phone, and they cannot be brought back: Reinstalling the app or changing phones Good to know - Updating keeps all your records and settings. - The app needs iOS 18 or later. If the App Store offers no update, check your iOS version in Settings → General → About. - Small improvements arrive by themselves: the app fetches them when it starts and applies them the next time it is opened.
