This guide shows you how to add a catch to your log. Only the species is required; the place and the time are filled in for you.

Steps

  1. On the Map tab, tap + in the bottom right corner, then Add catch. The sheet What did you catch? opens.
  2. Choose the species. Tap one of the three cards, or Other… to search the list.
  3. Optional: tap Add a photo, then Take photo or Choose from library. Photos of your catches
  4. Optional: tap Length or Weight and type the number.
  5. Check Location. It is set to where you are. To change it, tap it: Set the place and time of a catch
  6. Optional: drag the sheet up for more fields β€” When (date and time), Released and your notes (up to 600 characters).
  7. Tap βœ“ in the top right corner.

The catch is saved and opens on the map, where it gets a pin. The tide, wind, pressure and moon for that moment are added automatically: Open a catch and read its conditions

Other ways to start

  • At a saved spot β€” open the spot and tap Log a catch. The catch is attached to that spot.
  • At any point of the map β€” touch and hold the point, then tap Log a catch.

Choosing the species

  • The three cards are the species you caught most recently, then the most common ones for your region.
  • Other… opens a search. Without typing, it lists Recently caught and Common in your area.
  • The built-in list covers common species of the United States, Australia and New Zealand, and works offline.
  • Your species is not in the list? Type its name and tap the last row, Use "…". The catch is saved with the name you typed, without a picture.
  • If you do not know the species, type something like "Unknown" and use that row.

Length and weight

  • The units follow Length and Weight in Units: centimetres or inches, kilograms or pounds.
  • Type a number greater than zero. To remove a value, tap the βœ• on the chip.

Good to know

  • βœ“ is grey until a species is chosen and the catch has a place.
  • If you close the sheet with βœ• after entering something, the app asks "Discard catch?" β€” choose Keep editing to go on. Nothing is kept as a draft.
  • A date or time in the future is not accepted.
  • Logging a catch works without a connection. It is synchronised when the phone is online again: Use the app without a signal
  • Your catches are private: other users do not see them.
  • To change a catch later: Edit or delete a catch
